Buckle in because this one is going to be lengthy.
First off, if you’ve been a client of mine since around 2015, you know this sweet face!!! Amanda, my best friend, has also accompanied me at weddings as my second shooter (Florida Weddings)! She is a photographer in the Tampa Bay area in Florida and I just love her to pieces. We have seen each other through some sh*t, man! She turned 30 and, of course, we had to do a cake smash session. Yeah, about that though. We live 900 miles apart. Oh, yeah… Well, enter in some lies and deception between the Best Friend and the Wife.
Remember when Katie lied to me about being in a meeting and secretly ran off to see our client’s newborn baby before her Fresh 48 session at the hospital?! Yeah, it’s because Amanda and Katie had been in cahoots for a few weeks planning to surprise me with her vacation to D.C. You lying liars who lied to my face via text message!!! Amanda chose a flight that would coincide with the end of Katie’s shift (since she works near the airport), thinking that everything would run smoothly and I wouldn’t notice a rift in our normalcy. Enter in Katie’s first mistake: “Running late. In a meeting.” Something was up. Katie never has meetings at 5pm. That’s quitting time! Amanda’s not answering my texts either. Weird… What’s going on here?! I call Katie and she quickly rushes me off the phone. Okay, that’s not too weird if she’s in a meeting. But there’s this thing about Amanda not texting me back. Hmmm.
An hour or so later, Katie made her second mistake. She called me sounding weird. (Tip to anyone out there who needs to keep a secret from me: Don’t tell Katie. She. Will. Break.) Well, turns out, Amanda was sitting in the passenger seat of our car turning onto our street. I knew something was up and waited on the balcony to watch her pull up into our driveway. YUP! There’s my Best Friend! SURPRISE!
To answer your question, I knew it and I didn’t it. But I mostly did. And didn’t.
It was the best surprise! We, of course, had to show off our new city!
Here’s Amanda showing off all the state’s she calls home!
The National Mall is always busy, but it was July 4th weekend (hence our awesomely patriotic outfits) and the heat index was in the triple digits! It was HOT. So hot we decided against walking the 1/4 mile back to the museums and grabbed a cab instead. Best $10 we spent!!! Two words: air conditioning.
But wait! There’s more! This week together wouldn’t be complete without Amanda’s 30th Birthday Cake Smash Session! Cake, Champagne, & Glitter. I mean, what better way to commemorate turning Flirty Thirty!
A note on this glittery image: Amanda & I would like to thank Katie for her patience and inevitable acceptance of the glitter throwing to get this shot. Normally she wouldn’t care… if she hadn’t just laid down our brand new wood floors. Oops. WORTH IT!
Love and Light, My Friends!!!
